Welcome All

New albums in the works

I've started my new concept album called "A Little Help From My Friends" , where I work on each individual track with an artist I admire. Some in Optic Echo, others outside. So far Happy Prescriptions as well as Noise have come by the studio, with many more in the works. Stay tuned for more information ...

I've also started a new collaborative project w/ my friend Nathan here in pdx, and we've been pumping out tracks. He plays the drum kit, bass, sax, and hand drums; and I'm bringing out the sitar, tabla, guitar, and my electronics. We've having a blast, and may even have an album out by the end of 2008/early 2009.

Aleatoric @ Apotheke

Coco and I have started a monthly here in Portland at Apotheke (1314 NW Glisan, 2nd floor) called Aleatoric, where we're focusing on more of an anti-dance electronic music in the generas of ambient, IDM, experimental, and chill downtempo. It's the third Friday of every month. Contact me for directions of for the artist playing this month! Portland Radio Authority (praradio.org) will be streaming the shows live, and we'll be podcasting as well for those of you who can't make it out.
EDIT: Apotheke closed down to move to North Portland. Things will be back up and running come late 2008.

The New Year Brings A New Era

Starting in January 2007, my live sets begin. I've been transferring all my individual instruments and sounds to Ableton Live 6 so I can perform live sets, where I'll be able to modify my sound while playing instruments over my tracks. I'm also experimenting with the Behringer FCB1010 for live looping. This will be an evolving process, that has been years in the making.

Leaving Baja as a free MP3

I've recently finished Leaving Baja and it's being released as a free MP3 album. I'd classify it as a collaboration between ambient/experimental/downtempo electronic music with live instruments interweaved. There's a wealth of guest musicians who added to this project, and Mellisa Schneider did the cover and back art. Optic Echo Records and I am sure you'll find this worth your while to check out. You can find the album in its entirety here.

New time for weekly radio show

PRA radio (Portland Radio Authority) has given me a new slot for my weekly radio show. I'm on the air on Mondays from 6-8 Pacific Standard Time. My show is named "Optic Echo Presents" and you can stream each show live on www.praradio.org in mono or stereo. I'll be mixing some of my favorite downtempo, experimental, ambient, and IDM live on 2 turntables, along with some new music off Optic Echo. You can call in and talk to me at 503- 22 BLAST when I'm on the air. Tune in this Monday to hear for yourself! There's info here on subscribing to my podcasts.

Mix series for you to download

I've been uploading my downtempo mix series for you to listen to here. Originally meant for close friends and family to enjoy, I've recorded a number of my live DJ sets. I began as a strictly downtempo DJ, but I've expanded to include ambient, experimental, IDM, and much more. Continue to check back for additions, and enjoy the sets!

Panmixia has begun

Electric Blanket (Geoff Richards) and I have started a side project under the moniker Panmixia. We're focusing on live instruments infused with electric soundscapes. We're a little over half done with the tracks, and then comes the post production. We don't expect to be finished until some time in 2007, so till then check out our myspace page for some tracks and a video we've completed.

I'd love to hear from you ...
